UPDATE on the thumb-sucking: Did a little bit of research and learned that some experts think thumb-sucking is actually psychologically beneficial for babies, and the effects are long lasting. It teaches them that they can soothe themselves and don't have to rely on other people or things to soothe them. Teaches self-reliance and boosts their self-esteem.

Until they start school. Then thumb-sucking can lead to decreased self-esteem if they get teased by their classmates. And the dental problems start to become an issue around the age of four.

So... Ed and I have decided to let the thumb-sucking go for now. Angelie's had a reprieve. We'll tackle it again in four years.
