Due to our computer becoming unstable and going in for repairs, we’ve been without it. So, here is a long overdue update covering the last month-- in blog format, newest entries at the top.

BABY ROOM UPDATE: Still not sleeping through. May have to “Ferberize” her and let her cry it out. Seems so cruel but she has to learn how to sleep somehow.

Angelie’s room is 95% finished, and she’s finally moved in. She fought the move at bedtime, and cried a little longer than normal, but finally settled and slept in her own room for the first time last night. She didn’t sleep through as she had in a separate room at my Dad’s, but we’re hoping it’ll come without too much fight.

Angelie loves books! She’ll spend all day bringing me books to read to her. She anticipates the pictures of critters she knows, and will sign for “dog” or “fish” or “hat” before you’ve even turned to the page that has the dog, fish, or hat on it.

Angelie picked up two new baby sign words today. She surprised me with “fish” today at the park and handed me her fish shaped sand toy. Then at home while playing with a red Ziplock disposable bowl she showed us “hat”, which she accompanied with a very cute attempt at vocalizing it. “Ha” in our house now means hat.

Angelie had a visit from the Easter Bunny. She got a plastic pail and shovel, and some plastic Easter eggs with Cheerios inside of them. She also got a cute dress and backpack from her Auntie Robin, and two shirts and a pair of pants from Grandma.

We went out for DimSum after church, and then to Grandma and Grandpa’s for dinner. Angelie had a great time toddling all over their lawn with a plastic lawnmower.

Grandma, Grandpa, and Great-Nana were over to visit today, and we all ended up going to the park at the school across from our house. Angelie loved playing in the sand, sharing sand toys with another little baby playing there.

She enjoyed the big-kids’ slide, and we sent her down on her tummy several times. She enjoys the swing, wants out within a few moments. Not one for sitting still, our girl.

Angelie tried to shoplift her first item today. She managed to pull a brightly coloured set of measuring cups off the shelf and put them in her lap at the grocery store. Luckily I noticed them before we left the store. They were only $2 and a great little toy, so I did buy them. I figure she’s too young to get the idea that shoplifting is a way to get things bought for her. At least I hope it is!
She loves to be naked. Whenever I try to change her diaper or her clothes, she wiggles away as quickly as she can. We have to chase her to catch her and get her dressed again. Here she is running from Daddy:

Angelie is starting to pick up some language. She’s doing really well with the baby sign language. She’s been doing “all done” and “bath” for some time, and just this week she surprised me with “dog” while we were out for a walk. She turned around in the stroller to face me and panted like a dog -- perfect baby sign and entirely appropriate as there was a dog approaching us.
She’s also trying to speak. She says “Dadda“, “yeah”, “baa” (bath), and “baw” (ball).

SHOE UPDATE: Didn't slow her down long.
April 9th, 2006
Grandma bought Angelie a good pair of walking shoes. It’s slowed her down. Will take a few days for her to get used to walking in them.
April 8th, 2006
Angelie laughed -- a full deep belly-laugh -- in her sleep at about 2am. An amazing thing to hear.
April 7th, 2006
Angelie had a really rough night. I guess all the walking stressed her out and tired out her muscles.
April 6th, 2006
Angelie is officially a toddler. She’s been walking all over the house since yesterday afternoon. We’d gone to Gymboree and Angelie tried to keep up with a couple of three year olds who were running around an obstacle course. All the motivation she needed. She came home, took fifteen steps, and hasn’t stopped since.
She’s pretty good at climbing things too. She climbs into the tupperware cupboard, and onto the dishwasher door when it’s open.

Angelie has begun dancing. She bobs her little head, shakes her shoulders, or does the twist whenever she hears music.

The combination of daylight savings-time, and Ed’s working on Angelie’s room late into the evening, meant Angelie was up way too late last night. It’ll probably take us the rest of the week to get her back on her schedule.

Angelie took 10 little steps all on her own!
March 31st, 2006
Unexpected spring weather! Warm enough to enjoy a walk outside. Angelie was thrilled -- she loves her stroller. And Mommy was thrilled too -- looking forward to daily walks to help shed the last few pounds of baby-weight.

Angelie and I took a trip to visit my Dad in Petawawa, partly to escape the paint fumes as Ed painted Angelie’s bedroom furniture, and partly just to get away from the same old same old. We arrived on Friday evening, in time for dinner. Angelie had a great time exploring (she found Papa's Tupperware cupboard in no time) and made friends with the fish in Papa’s indoor pond. Angelie spent a good portion of the weekend elbow-deep in the pond, and I spent a good portion of the weekend drying her fishy little fingers.

Angelie slept in a separate room during our stay, and slept so well. Friday and Saturday she slept through the night, and only woke once or twice on Sunday and Monday night. Bears good for when she is moved into her own room.
We originally intended to drive home Sunday, but the furniture painting took longer than expected so we planned to extend our stay until Tuesday. But then I woke in the wee hours of Tuesday morning with food poisoning. So we stayed an extra day. Papa took really good care of both of us, and then we left on Wednesday.
