Long overdue, but finally I've gotten online to update you on Angelie's progress. Our computer was down for a time over Christmas/New Years and then I was studying for an English exam (for the on-again/off-again degree I'm working on).

So here it is February and I'm finally putting Christmas photos up. We went to my Dad's for a few days before Christmas and Angelie got to see her cousins, whom she adores. The rest of us competed in Scrabble tournaments all weekend long... not sure who came out the winner.

Christmas Eve

As has become tradition, we spent Christmas Eve with Ed's family and then Christmas Day dinner with our friends the Hogans, Angelie's godparents. And of course, Santa visited our house.

Angelie really "got" it this year. She vibrated with excitement to see the gifts in her stocking, the presents under the tree, that Santa had eaten the cookies she left out and had taken the time to write her a thank you note. it took her almost all day to open her gifts, as she stopped to play with them in between each, and had to try on each new outfit too.

Santa didn't leave the new baby sister Angelie asked for under the tree. What a disappointment (for Mommy too.... wouldn't it be easier that way!)

Angelie is developing a vivid imagination. She speaks both half of the conversations she has with her dollies now, has beach parties in the house (and sometimes wears her bathing suit in the tub),

plays dress up,

and teaches Mommy how to crochet ("Here Mommy I'll show you how").

Her imagination is revealing what a sensitive little girl she is too. After watching Slimey, Oscar the Grouch's talking worm on Sesame Street, and then seeing a bird on TV eating a worm, she asked, "Mommy do birds eat talking worms?" "No Anglie they don't," me trying not to laugh. Big sigh from Angelie, "Oh GOOD!"

She's moved into a 'big girl bed', a full twin, and is sleeping better through the night than she was in the toddler bed. More comfortable mattress I think, and more room to move. We went to Walmart together to pick out sheets, and I assumed she'd pick Dora or Disney Princesses, but she picked Diego. They're dark blue and don't really match her pretty pink bedspread, but she likes them.

She inherited an Ottawa Senators hockey jersey from the Hogan's and wears it (and makes Daddy wear his) to watch the games on TV. Go Sens go!

We're well into the "Why?" stage and the Poop Joke stage. She's had her first black eye (swollen shut, purple for a week) after she fell jumping on the couch. (Sorry no photo.)

She had a second sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's house, it didn't go as well as the first one. Angelie woke up in the middle of the night with the stomach flu. Grandma and Grandpa handled it well and didn't call us until the next morning. Which was nice for Mommy because instead of enjoying a good night sleep without a toddler walking in at all hours, Mommy was up all night with the stomach flu too.

And on that note, I'll leave you with Angelie's advertisement for the softness of toilet paper:
